Victoria Groom

Victoria Groom is a pursuing a PhD in Communication, specializing in human-computer interaction. She is a member of the CHIMe lab, where she researches issues of human- robot interaction and social responses to mediated communication. Her research interests focus on issues of embodiment and machine identity.

Victoria has a BA in English with a Fiction Writing Emphasis and an MA in Media Studies, both from Stanford University. Before returning to Stanford to pursue a PhD, she worked in the field of Customer Relationship Management, focusing on speech recognition and voice technologies. Most recently, she worked in User Support at Google, where she managed the development of online help systems and user-to-user support initiatives.
