Her dissertation explores the impact of digital media on the practices and norms of traditional journalism and how these changes affect the nature of journalistic power. She is the author of "The Real and the Right: Journalistic Authority and the Coverage of Judith Miller," and is interested in how the moral implications of the narrative form impact the crucial civic role journalism plays in a democratic society. She has taught classes and UC Berkeley and Stanford, both in communication theory and the practice of journalism. Before coming to Stanford, Lise worked in affordable housing development and on housing policy in the Bay Area. She has also written for various journalistic publications.
